BITHYNIA, Nicaea. Messalina. Augusta, AD 41-48. Æ 32mm (22.71 g, 12h). C. Cadius Rufus, proconsul. Struck circa AD 47-48. Draped bust left, hair in long plait / Façade of basilica: a two story tetrastyle central bay with two story wings flanking; inscribed entablature above. RPC I 2034 (same obv. die as plate coin); RG 33 var. (bust type); SNG Copenhagen -. Fine, green and brown patina, rough. Extremely rare; only the second example known.
